About

Creative Chess

Hi all! I’m Jules Coulson, a professional chess teacher from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I learned chess in elementary school, played in scholastic tournaments as a kid, and later in life pursued chess in college as a member of the University of Pittsburgh Chess Club. I currently teach chess in various schools, libraries, summer camps and privately in the Greater Pittsburgh area. I’m also a certified US Chess Federation tournament director. I enjoy teaching and strive to improve the skills of all students with a holistic approach to chess emphasizing master game analysis, puzzles, practical strategy, chess history and chess-related current events. I launched Creative Chess to network with students, fellow chess teachers and educators, and the global chess community. See you around!
